Parental Guidance for Elements of Faith?

Wow! This looks like a movie I want to see! I love a good sports film, and this one is about a Christian high school football coach who desperately seeks God to help him battle fear and failure. I'm sure it will be a very powerful movie for a family to view.

But, oh, wait a minute...is it appropriate for kids? There's no bad language, or gratuitous sex scenes, but...OHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, there's a Christian message! How evil. A PG rating has been slapped on this film for it's faith message.

I wonder if it were a movie containing Islamic themes, or Buddhist themes what the rating might be? Should faith elements be given the same consideration as language, sex, or violence contained within a film?

Plugged In Online reports that the movie Facing the Giants, has received
a PG rating for "thematic elements." Among the themes the MPAA believes are worthy of a parental warning are strong Christian messages and characters who evangelize others.
