On Humility

Nichole Nordeman, recording artist and now a contributing editor of CCM Magazine, ponders humility in her inaugural column. She makes the observation that "humility in Christ is inseparably linked to confidence in Christ" which is a profundity I've heard before.

People often mistake humility as something that would not allow a christian to ever receive praise for anything, or wouldn't associate a leader as being humble, as they are two seemingly incompatible things.

There was one part of the column that I particularly took note of, and that is a quote Nordeman shared from Thomas Merton, a Franciscan monk, who said:
"a humble man receives praise the way a clean window takes the light of the sun. The truer and more intense the light is, the less you see of the glass."
Dare I pray for humility?
